In July 2012, the Crawford Fund worked with ACIAR to produce a video on the impact of ND vaccine on the lives of villagers in Singida district. From this, Sally Ingleton from 360 Degree Films kindly put together a short video on AAUN Consultative Group Member, Dr Robyn Alders, who talks about her life as veterinarian, her experience studying at the University of Zambia in a vet school, and her work with village poultry.

Dr Robyn Alders has spent more than 20 years developing a vaccine to control Newcastle Disease (ND) in chickens, providing smallholder farmers with a source of scarce animal protein, pride and income. In many countries and not only in Tanzania, Newcastle disease is endemic, causing high mortality in village chicken flocks on an annual basis. Through the support of Australian aid programs AusAID and ACIAR and other donors, Robyn worked to develop vaccines but also community-based programs for the control of Newcastle Disease in several African and Asian countries.
