Australia Africa Universities Network (AAUN) – Western Sydney University (WSU) Symposium 25th August 2020
Western Sydney University, as a member of AAUN, will be holding a research Symposium on 25thAugust 2020. This event has been planned quite a while ago, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have now determined to go ahead with a Zoom live webinar.
The Symposium will showcase AAUN member universities’ research project outcomes, especially from Western Sydney University, University of Newcastle and relevant African partner universities, and will also address current issues important to both Australia and Africa, reflecting the work occurring in both continents.
This Symposium will be a live webinar via Zoom system, which includes the following sessions:
- Welcome and Introductions
- Health Research Showcase
- Sustainable Resources Showcase
- Education and Young People’s Resilience
- Discussion – (Convenors John Hearn & Deborah Sweeney) Possible initiatives to discuss/explore (either with AAUN or within WSU): Opportunities post COVID/ Co-funding post-doctoral exchanges/ Engagement with CODESRIA (Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa)/ Transformative role of WSU/AAUN in the changing landscape in Africa in global health, student and staff mobility, research and innovation./ How to access the emerging markets in research innovation.
